There seems to be a lack of empathy with the industry on some FB pages and they seem to be populated by people who have bought a licence and think they are Chuck Yeager.
Sadly some if not all of what we do is fun and deadly serious at the same time, I love my job, enjoy being in the industry and despair at some of the morons it attracts.
R22s are great bits of kit, I find bigger more complex things more interesting nowadays, but thats just me.
Well I've just realised that I haven't been on here in over 18 months, where does the time go... Its sad its all gone a bit quiet as I always found the members here to be a lot more polite and respectful than on other forums. New year and a new resolution for me - to make more contributions to HT!!

Hey Everyone,
Well I was on the forum when I started my flying (back end of 2010) and raced up to the lofty heights of 5/7 PPL(H) exams passed and all of about 45 hours - and then had to stop due to buying a new house, daughter education and generally having zero spare £££.
So now that circumstances have changed and I am now no longer in the expensive house I find myself with the opportunity to start all of the exams again, under a new CAA syllabus (+2 exams) as the others had lapsed oh well.
At time of typing, I have thrown myself (literally) into completing the PPL(H) so that I at least have something to show for my ££/Time spent thus I am now.........wait for it..........
9/9 exams passed!
Ready for Solo Navs, QCC shouldn't be too far behind that, then Skills test!
Then ready for the big boys and girls league of CPL/ATPL(H) study broken up with a bit of R22 hours building!
I must say, that to all those who posted that they haven't been on due to work commitments / being busy - I really hope that is busy in the helicopter world as I am sort of hoping that means the industry is in need of new pilots as I am running out of organs and body parts so will need to earn some money at some stage!!!
Anyway - great to see a few of the 'senior' names still involved!
Stay safe everyone.

UPDATE / NEWSFLASH / NOTAM ALERT
Well ladies and gents I have finally managed to complete my PPL(H). And to quote a famous line in a film - "It was emotional"
I took the skills test last week and the weather was less than kind to me if honest however by sticking to the instructions I was able to squeeze out a pass.
It has taken nearly 4 years for me to get to this point. None of that through a lack of desire or interest! Just the twists and turns of adult life really. Well I say adult but I just a big kid really
Anyway, I am now at that point of looking forward to actually enjoying myself with my PPL(H), whilst still learning and absorbing knowledge from those who have probably forgotten more than I have learnt thus far. I would really like to go to a number of hotels / restaurants literally just for lunch etc whilst getting the P1 time on the books. If there is anyone interested in sitting 'left chair' whilst I pay for the helicopter etc and you fancy a trip or two let me know (via PM).
Anyway, safe flying everyone and thanks for the support.

Well, more than a year since anything posted on this forum - would you call it DEAD?
Or just Moribund? Hibernating? Everybody totally lost interest? An Ex-Forum?
I am out of the business anyway, having stopped flying 2 years ago after cancer surgery, and after the recovery period I just couldn't be bothered getting current again, so let it go.
Just like this forum, people couldn't be bothered, it has collapsed. How sad.

I still check in on an irregular basis.
I'm not flying either due to work, family and finacial reasons.
Very sad given the 'family' we used to have here.

I had a quick look here over last weekend, I think part of the issue is lots of members have had situation changes and lots of people keep up with each other through Facebook and groups on there. It's not the same as the community there once was on here but I suppose times move on.
I'll keep checking back with interest to see what members are posting.
