Well it's either walking distance or perhaps we'll have to squash 8 or so heli pilots into JTL's car to drive to this place!! Wink

I'm sure they took your reg rc! Don't think it's that easy to run away without paying, unless you fly low level like Airwolf to escape the radar!! Very Happy Very Happy

Oh I was very good (and very embarrassed) and phoned them to pay with my credit card as soon as I got back to Sywell (once I'd landed away the second time and blagged that one as well!!!).

Nottingham were really surprised and said "oh you needn't have bothered"!

Must remember to bring my wallet on the fly-in, especially if there's going to be a curry!!!

What time do we anticipate arriving / departing Nottingham on 19th February?

Will get myself an R22 booked once we know. Alan has agreed to navigate and one of his friends may meet us there too but he's a Plank Driver so will need to sit on his own table in the curry house Very Happy

Hmmm. Or Miss Helen's car too. Confused

The new sign at the entrance to the airfield is for "The Honeypot Tea Rooms (10am-4pm)". Having driven up to the airfield car park, there is no further signage, other than a board on the entrance to the tower building offering "Tea, Coffee, Cakes and Snacks -->".

I'm quite happy to make bookings for wherever if there's some ideas of numbers.

Times? Well, sunset here is 1723 on 19th February, so I don't see there being any pressure on getting away early.

I might suggest arrival around midday? (Sunrise is 0713...) But then, I doubt I'd be flying-in..!

Well being as we have an hour's flying to get home, we'd need to head off by at least 1600 to be on the safe side. It also depends on a/c availability, but I think we'll plan on arriving between 11 and 12.

I'll have to see if I can bag the 300 for that Sunday - usually a day they do T/F's at EGSY but if I get in there first...

After the Wombwell 5 miler (starting at 10:10) dash home for a wash (!) then out almost to where I was before to collect the heli and off to Nottingham. Can't see me getting there before 12 though - it might be best if we aim to eat at the airfield in Miah's if they're open Sundays and do something other than curry - or the tea room that JTL mentioned? The Goose at Gamston is ok but very set fare from a menu which will be frozen and microwaved to order. I've had high tea there a couple of times when I've been working in Nottm and going off to Devon after the day there. Omelette and veg/chips and a hot pud with custard (compulsory!) Obviously they were done fresh - the omelette at least!
It's passable but quite a walk from Tollerton (Airfield) and there's no pavement - country roads then you'll have to cross a very busy 4-lane dual carriageway on a major junction - the A52 Nottm Ring Road.

Could we fix lunch, if booking, for 12:30-1pm to give us all a chance?

FF

That all sounds great to me! Especially the curry house. We have been promising to meet up with James and Helen at Costock, then onwards to the curry house, since last year.

I would be quite happy to indulge in a glass of wine as well Rolling Eyes
I shall send a message to Thomas Coupling and ask if he is up for a visit! Saw him yesterday at Wellesbourne and we are forward-planning the accommodation side of things at Weston Helidays.........

19 Feb is now in our diary (weather permitting Rolling Eyes )

Tollerton, not Costock. Don't want you ending up on the wrong field...! Wink

At least Tollerton looks like an airport, tarmac etc.... Costock just has the sock! Smile (But a redeeming feature last time I was there was a dark blue sexy 500D)
